Latest office furniture trends December 2014

The latest trends we are seeing in the office furniture industry are:

Scandinavian style

Wooden legs - we are starting to see desking and meeting tables with slender wooden leg frames. This is inspired by Scandinavian wooden furniture which tends to have slim, shapely wood leg frames. Think of the furniture featured in offices and homes in programmes like Borgen, The Killing and The Legacy rather than IKEA. The slim frames give the furniture a lighter, more graceful air than the metal leg frames that we are used to in the UK. Whilst this style has been around for a few months as Breakout furniture it is now seeping into office areas, as desks and meeting tables, as furniture is suited throughout the building. Our Danny coffee table (shown below) is a fine example.

The industrial movement carries on as we see more black leg frames contrasted against white desks and meeting tables. Copper lamp shades make a bright contrast against the black and white. Rough wooden floor boards also add to the industrial vibe with grey painted pillars and grey carpets. There is now a carpet tile available that actually looks like concrete!

Fashion and furniture meet as G-Star Raw and Vitra have re-worked classic office chairs designed by Jean Prouve in the 1940s. Muted fabrics and army green metalwork combine to give a cool industrial retro feel.
